Magic Mushrooms

Hmmm, what do I want to say about magic mushrooms? Well, I made some the other day. Actually, coconut mushrooms to be exact, only not the sweetie kind, the polymer clay kind.

Coconut mushrooms are an English sweet that I used to have a fair few of as a child. To check out the edible kind so that you know what I am talking about click here:

Coconut mushrooms are really quite cute to look at and stir up memories of many a 10p of weekly pocket money spent at the local post office buying pick and mix. So of course, I decided to make myself some but ones that will last longer than my little bag of bootie from the sweetie section. Here are my first few attempts.

Now, I need to work on my dessicated coconut as I got it a bit thick and then a little small but I can say that I did at least manage to make these mushies using glow in the dark clay on the stalks.

Check out my (not so great) night vision!

My First Published Tutorial

I'm in Bead mag, whoop whoop!

My first ever polymer clay tutorial has been published in this issue (Feb/March 2011) of Bead magazine :)) The tutorial shows you how to make a Catherine Wheel pendant like the ones I showed you in a previous blog post.

I even made the front cover

Here is a quick peek at the article with my piccie in the corner!.

All new cupcake focal necklace - whoop!

Some time ago I made a lurvely cupcake cane. I made a range of beads from the cane, including this large cupcake focal bead.

I used this focal up in a necklace, but I really wasn't pleased with the results.
I liked the spiral rope and fringing but the beaded toggle looked rather ugly and really let the necklace down.

I just couldn't decide what to replace the toggle with so I put this project away and forgot about it until recently...

...when I had the idea of making a button toggle from the cane (glad I had some left) that I used to make the focal bead.

I think this works sooooo much better and really finishes off the necklace.

I think these polymer clay choc chip cookie beads do the trick :)

For missing Mojos

My bead buddies were saying they had missing mojos over the holidays so I made a little something to help them out!

Hope it helps!
